The Locals

Crafers has a lovely historic hotel, Jimmies Restaurant – known for its wood fired pizza, a post office, gourmet deli, service station and take away food options including pizza and Indian. Just a short drive or ride from the Cottage is the Eagle Mountain Bike Park.

Mt Lofty is less than a 10 minute drive from Crafers and the best place to get a birds-eye view of Adelaide. It is famous for the Waterfall Gully to Summit Hike and has Cleland Wildlife Park and Botanic Gardens nearby.


Stirling is one of the most picturesque villages in the hills and less than 10 minutes from The Cottage. You can wander the tree-lined streets, browse book stores, have a coffee at one of the many cafes, enjoy a great meal on the deck of the Stirling Hotel and from September to April enjoy the local street markets (fourth Sunday of each month).

Hahndorf is a State Heritage listed German town that attracts visitors from all over Australia and the world. You can indulge in German fare and enjoy the diverse shopping experience.

Adelaide Hills Wine Region saw the first vineyards established in 1840. It is now a highly regarded area producing a range of excellent red and white wines with various events to celebrate their success.
